Welcome to the COCHE Retreat!
Once upon a time in August 2015 I attended my third Polishing the Pulpit (PTP) Family Lectureship. I was again refreshed and renewed to be a better Christian, as well as be a better homeschool mom. I savored the time with like-minded sisters there as we discussed the challenges and the joys that come with homeschooling. The wheels began to turn….there are Marriage Retreats in the church, Ladies’ Retreats, Preachers’ Wives Retreats. Youth Retreats, Family Retreats, etc.
What about Homeschool Moms who need a break just to be with Sisters in Christ and share ideas on homeschooling? I started to wonder….what if there could be a time where moms in the church who homeschool could gather for learning and fellowship with each other? With a few Facebook messages to some sisters to brainstorm, COCHE Retreat was born in September of 2015 and we held our first annual retreat the last weekend in February of 2016. We have been meeting every year since and growing in number by God’s grace. Our previous Retreat themes:
2016: Onward and Upward (Phil. 3:14)
2017: Journey to Joy (1 Cor. 12:18)
2018: There’s No Place Like Home (Deut. 6:7)
2019: Focus (Phil 3:14)
2020: Increase (Luke 2:52)
2021: Love. Laugh. Learn. (Prov. 16:20)
2022: Ask for the old paths (Jeremiah 6:16)
2023 Let us not grow weary… (Gal 6:9)
2024 Sharpen (Prov. 27:17)
Some moms choose to attend solo and really “retreat” for some personal reflection, some moms carpool with other moms to make a girls’ trip, and some moms travel to KY with their families to take an extended vacation before or after the retreat. The retreat is for homeschooling moms in the church and for moms who want to learn more about perhaps jumping into this blessed lifestyle! The COCHE Retreat is a time for classes, fellowship, prayer, singing, researching curriculum, mentoring conversations, as well as many door prizes from the brotherhood for your parenting journey.
Please pray about attending and being edified by some wonderful women while you improve your homeschool! It is my prayer that the weekend will encourage you that you are capable, you are on the right path for your family, and you have so much to offer your family with the support of your family in the Lord! If I can answer any questions, please do not hesitate to email me or call me today.
In Christ,
