About

Welcome to the COCHE Retreat!

Once upon a time, in August 2015, I attended my third Polishing the Pulpit (PTP) Family Lectureship. I was again refreshed and renewed to be a better Christian, as well as be a better homeschool mom. I savored the time with like-minded sisters as we discussed the challenges and the joys that come with homeschooling. The wheels began to turn… there are Marriage Retreats in the church, Ladies’ Retreats, Preachers’ Wives Retreats, Youth Retreats, Family Retreats, etc. What about Homeschool Moms who need a break just to be with Sisters in Christ and share ideas on homeschooling? I started to wonder… what if there could be a time where moms in the church who homeschool could gather for learning and fellowship with each other? With a few Facebook messages to some sisters to brainstorm, COCHE Retreat was born in September of 2015 and we held our first annual retreat the last weekend in February of 2016. The first year the wonderful speakers chosen traveled to Kentucky for free to present their lessons and share their wisdom. We passed around a hat for Friday night pizza and my local friends cooked lunch on Saturday. The theme was “Onward and Upward,” and the retreat was free as I wanted to see if indeed there was an interest in this area of our spiritual and emotional lives! We had around 46 attendees and it was a great success! The 2017 Retreat theme was “Journey to Joy” the first weekend of March and our attendance grew to 67! This time we charged a fee to attend to help cover travel expenses for speakers, as well as, dinner Friday night. We also sold our first T-shirts for the Retreat! We were again blessed with donations of meaningful and useful materials to give away to retreat attendees. The donor list grew from our previous year and we were able to bless many families with free resources. The third annual retreat will take place the first weekend of March with a new option of an “Early-Bird” session on Thursday night! We are so very excited to come together, to always be growing, and to address as many areas of “Homeschool Life” as we can in our time together. Some moms choose to attend solo and really “retreat” for some personal reflection, some moms carpool with other moms to make a girls’ trip, and some moms travel to KY with their families to take an extended vacation before or after the retreat.

Please pray about attending and being edified by some wonderful women while you improve your homeschool! It is my prayer that the weekend will encourage you that you are capable, you are on the right path for your family, and you have so much to offer your family with the support of your family in the Lord! If I can answer any questions, please do not hesitate to email me or call me today.
